Just wondering what peoples opinion/experiences are of standard cloth sports seats in the MY99+ turbo as opposed to leather ones.

I've heard reports that the leather option can look dodgy (poor quality due to it being fitted by different firms) and that the grey leather can look a bit '80s. And what about durability?

Any opinions?? I'm due to view a MY99 Turbo with leather this weekend but it's a long way to travel, not sure if it's worth it.

I went the leather route for 2 reasons:

- Saw the cloth interior on a mate's car and his **** had gone through the squab in a matter of months. He's no lardy either.

- With kids, messes and spills are a lot easier to clean up.

Personally, I think it improves the look of the whole cabin.

Cheers

Cheers Kav.

What about the quality? Do they look like pucka factory items, or are they a bit 'homemade'? What colour are yours?

A friend used to have a 98 Subaru, in dark green with the prodrive gold wheels !

Had the leather option fitted as it was a company car and really changed the whole feel.

When in the car park with the other company Audis / BMWs etc it obviously looked a little different, however all the clients loved it as it was exectutive inside ( or as much as scooby can be ) and went like a rocket..

I would certainly recomend it, although be careful when sitting in the back with no seat belt as you can get some wicked friction burns as the 'Gs' take over, and sliding from side to side does occur !

Regards,

P

I think leather does look more classy, but the white trims on the cloth seats do give it that sportier look, and birds alway remark on how it matches the white dials, MOMO steering and gearknob, metal pedals and soon to be brushed aluminium dash board!!

I have an MY99 and its gone thru 30k, the seats are still as good as new...

It's not BMW quality but it looks OK. I went for the charcoal grey which isn't too sombre.

When ordering my new car, the Subaru salesman actually recommended me not to go for leather (which I think was £1200?). He said I didn't want to be sliding around on leather whilst cornering!?

Cheers

I've got leather and havbe not had any sliding issues and I've not got a sticky ****. I went for slate grey which was nice but matches the grey of the cabin a bit too make and make the cabin look a little dull. A contrasting colour would ahve been better. Apparently you can get the dealer to specify a mix of colurs so you could have grey with blue inserts on seats and doors if you wanted.

Thumbs up

Get some spare seats from somewhere and get them retrimmed - stick leather around the back and sides and alcantara down the middle, best of both worlds and a lovely sporty look, can't be bad

got my my97 leathered, must say it brings up the look of the interior and the smell is nice...although it does'nt seem to be as grippy on the back .

BTW, leather or cloth aside, does anyone know if the seats themselves are different in the MY99 compared to the MY98 car?

I think the seats from my97-98 are the same but the latter might have a different pattern/colour.
