Default Dash rot ???

Hello

My Jap MY95 impreza has got some light chocolate staining type marks on the passenger side of the dash over the glove box. It does not affect the air vent but continues onto the dash by the door pillar.

It was not there a couple of years ago when I got the car, and seems to have come on over the last year, slowly.

It also looks like it is starting on the driver side dash over the clocks.

I have tried dash cleaning cloths and sprays, but looks like the plastic dash has changed colour? Scrubbing with finger nail or scotchbrite washing up stuff removes it a little but am I rubbing away the dash?

It really looks like the dash is rotting, the plastic is changing form or at least colour, and as it is wrinked material I can not get the colour out and it looks odd.

Any ideas? Not able to get dash out as a big job so painting or flocking is out.

Thanks

Seems it was UV degradation of the vinyl plastic dash.,

Sort of got rid of it by covering with some proproetry dash cleaner / dash paint!
