Dash clocks, bulbs, etc....
Hey guys, I have searched and altho there are looaaaaadddddssss of threads on the subject of people trying to change the colour of the dash clocks from green to blue, I cannot find the exact answer to the question I'm looking for......
I've heard some people mention the fact that when they change the colour of the actual bulbs, the still get a green effect because there is like a green translucent film behind the clocks? So does this mean the actual bulbs behind all the clocks are just white? The reason I ask is that I work for a sign company and so we got loadsa blue translucent vinyl and I think it'd be easier for me to try and remove the existing green in the car and stick some blue in, rather than changing 10 or 11 bulbs or whatever it is?!......AND also having to remove the green film or whatever it is by the sounds of it anyway. Is it an actual film does anybody know? As in, can it be removed? Or is it actual coloured plastic that ur stuck with?
Sorry for all the questions that have probably been asked before!
Cheers guys

not sure about the film, but I changed a couple of bulbs last year: the bulbs I removed were GREEN#...I fitted blue
....the dash is now blueish

I changed the ones in my classic to blue LEDs, was very blue, but had bright spots behind the bulbs, and you could not see the needles very well at night, so they came straight out..
That was years ago though, sure they LEDs are better now..

Mine had the green caps (condom like
) to and wanted it all red to match the gauges...
Dont go for the coloured (painted) bulbs as they will fade within a couple of weeks and it will look absolute pants!
As for leds on the clocks I think it might be iffy due to them not being all that great on wide angles (short range and bright bulbs) hence you could endup with some places brighter than others... didnt have it done like this to mine as couldent find any suitable candidates from the large range at maplins (tested all the brightest withe widest angles) to give the bright even ilumination desired.
Just ended up getting new bright clear bulbs (direct oe replacements) and red coloured caps and looks great like oe finish.
