You need to remove the whole centre trim panel, with the radio. There's two clips at the bottom, and two at the top.
Pull the bit of the gearlever surround closest to the back of the car up, detatch the pieces from each other, then pull the gearlever surround backwards. It'll detatch from the front bit.
Then the whole lot will come out.
You can remove the cigarette lighter from there

if you drive into a tree at 50mph like I did year before last it all comes off on it's own.
Unfortuantely it buggers everything else up and twists the chassis and all sorts and they write your car off! Probably better off with the clips!
