Default Gear ****...

Silly Question, but should the Gear **** on my 2001 WRX (New Age) just unscrew? It doesn't seem to to want to budge, does it just need brute force (worried about damaging something) or does it need to be cut off ?

Thanks

Unscrew anti clockwise mate. Probably just a bit tight!

Cool Time to get tough...

Cheers guys, didn't want to be too rough

Can you do any damage to the gear stick\box if it's stuck and you use to much force? Unlikely, but worth an ask just in case.....

You'd have to be Arnie, IIRC the gearstick has a bracket welded across, and a bolt passes through it. The gearknob, on the other hand, is IIRC a plastic thread.........

Default Steps to Unscrew your Gear ****

1- Hold the Gear **** with one hand
2- Rotate the Gear **** in anti-clock wise direction
3- It takes so much unscrewing.....so dont worrry...your doing the correct thing
4- This would never damage anything in the gear Box as long as you remain the Shift Stick in the neutral position....
5- if you feel like you need to move the Shift Stick while unscrewing the gear ****, you can press on the Clutch Pedal or left someone press on it for you, so that you can move it in any gear position you want to ease the process...but my advise is not to move the shift stick while removing the Gear ****....DUDE i installed a MOMO Gear Knowb designed for VW cars...wich is more thicker than ordinary gear *****....as you will see in the coming pics....because those look so aggressive....keep the URL with you, because i am always uploading new photos all the time....
