i had an idea today and was wondering if its already been done,or anyone has any advice.
i thought about using electro luminescent sheet as a backing for my gauges.they're powered from invertors which can run on 12v d.c.
as long as you keep a bit of the edge on opposite sides to run the power through you can cut it out, with scissors in any shape you like.its the stuff used in the 'indiglo'style watches,or so i was informed.
anyway its only £4.50 a sheet so i think i'll give it a try.i think i'll go with the blue colour(6 available!).
wish me luck,or stop me if you know more about it!
cheers,stevie

Stevie, I'll be watching this with interest. The autometer gauges that I have could be just begging for this modification...

havent ordered sheet yet,but its available from R.S.components,so is probably easy to get hold of or ordered from any electronics retailer.the sheet is £4-5 and the invertor is about £14+ depending on size.
i'll keep you posted!

Guys,

Kinda on the same line.
Was up at AWD on Friday when in walks this guy with a test rig to demo guess what ? The next stage of this... He has Electroglo dial kits. They are white when unpowered but when power is applied they glow blue, not only that the colour can be changed by a switch on the dash from blue to green in varying stages. Had a gas to him and he tells me that AWD are distributing these for him. At present he has kits for Saxos and a kit for the uk impreza is in process now (no use for a WRX) he tells me though that if theres enough interest he`ll do a WRX kit as well. I got a flyer from him, when i`ve scanned it i`ll upload it onto my site

BTW u can get in touch with AWD on 01738 633336 if u wanna know about availability etc (a name drop wouldn`t go a miss either

cell,

look on r.s.components site, pick search, product range, pick electronics, underneath in description type in electro luminescent sheet, search will find it all for you, pick to see a picture,i have the blue colour.
sussed how to get a gauge on it now, pulled off my gauge,photo-copied its face, traced it,to reverse from white on black to black on white,photo-copied onto acitate(spelling?its the stuff you use to make stencils),cutout to match face size, now just need spare time to fit it.

Guys,

I'm the guy who was speaking to Teknopete about the Electroglo dials.
I am supplying sets for Citroen Saxo VTS/VTR, Peugeot 106 GTi/XSi and UK Impreza Turbo (up to 98my).
They should be ready about mid to end of December.
I can supply them for any car if there is enough interest, so give me some feedback on what you think.
They are direct replacements (much the same as white dial kits). They glow and the colour can be changed in various stages between blue and green and the brightness altered by means of a dash mounted switch.
I can supply direct (Tel: 01738 622311) or through AWD (Tel: 01738 633336)
Cost per set is £120.00
Let me know what you think.

Cheers
