yep, they're universal fitment.It'll come with little adaptor caps that fit to the top of your gearstick and the actual **** is held on with grub screws

ive got a leather one fitted. do i just unscrew and pull out of gator? then do i need to release it from the shaft that comes off as you unscrew?

As mentioned if its an aftermarket version then you need to unscrew the alloy collar to reveal 3 grub screws.
You need an allen key to undo these, not sure if the Subaru endorsed version is the simple screw on and off jobbie.

The Momo one includes the screws & allen key in the box - 5 mins to fit and quite suprising how much shorter the gearstick stalk is afterwards.
The cable coming from the ciggie lighter is going to an adapter hidden behind the centre console powering a phone holder & an Origin B2 unit BTW.
