Best compromise I've seen are the ones that Nitosport do (click on Nitosport Interior). Carbon fibre effect. After all who is going to know whether it is real or not? Nito's would be about half the price of what you've said aswell. They also have the added benefit of coming with a sleeve attachment which means the leather gaitor stays up properly (something you don't get with the Momo ones). I've had one for over 4 years now

Don't do it mate the carbon effect film looks absolutely nothing like real carbon. For some reason they think a lot of silver dots on a black background is carbon esque.
You pay 50 for a momo so 90 for a carbon one isnt that bad. Try Reverie they do a couple iirc along with carbon steering wheels

Ummm [whisper]halfords[/whisper] do a ripspeed gearknob that is cf for about £30. Don't know if it's real carbon but it's not the crap printed stuff like on momo *****.
Had a look on their site but couldn't find any pics but they don't look too bad at all, would be tempted if i didn't already have a sparco one
