Default STi8 seat question

My car is an MY03 WRX I have just upgraded to the full STi8 interior, from what I can gather my old seats had airbags and the STi8's dont, so there is nowhere to plug in the airbag wires, obviously

The airbag light is constantly 'on' I have tried connecting the wires on each side to close the loop, but that does not solve the problem!

Has anybody had this problem or does anyone know how to rectify this situation.

Thanks in advance.

Mark

I'm sure I've seen the answer to this on the NASIOC site, I think it involves a resistor of a certain value between the connections to simulate the impedance of the air bag.

Give it at search you never know

Regards

Mark.

You need a pair of airbag resistors from your local Subaru dealer ! They are about £10 each ! Part No is: 98299PA040 and you need 2, one for each seat !

All you do is remove the Connector block from the resistor (as it dosent match the one for the seat !) and plug the remaining 2 pins on the end of the wire into the block where you unplugged the seat from ! Its not an official fix but as far as im aware its the only way to do it ?

I put them on mine when i changed my interior !

Hope this helps mate !

Mark

Just a quick suggestion that you should notify your insurance company about this change......Just to make sure your properly covered (I'm guessing that the removal of airbags will be viewed negatively).

Thanks, Nick.

Mark,G4 is quiet right I have carried out the same mod as you last December and used the Subaru resisters with slight modification to them. They allow the drivers and front passenger air bags to operate normally.

I have been told that you can use 3.3ohm resisters in the same way and they work, the only difference is that they cost 7p each.

Hi, Mark at 7p you can't argue with that, I Think I paid £25 for the pleasure of the Subar ones, best of luck with the change, miles better than the standard park bench they fit as standard !!

OMG it actually works. I had cut off the plugs that go into the socket (dont ask why) so i bought a block of electrical thingies (one wire in one end, the other in the other|) you know what I mean, checked beforew I taped it all up and hew presto light gone. about 40p and there ya go.

So if you have this problem go to maplins and get 2 x 3.3 ohm resisters and away ye go.
