Thumbs down

My MY98 Turbo Impreza is with me for just a week. Amazing car. The only thing that I really don't like is the quality of the interior. I can hear a lot of cracks and other noises comming from the dash, specially from the radio area. Is this a common problem? Any hint on how to solve it?
Thanks
Nelson

Lightbulb

The plastic round the radio on Imprezas always creaks - especially in summer (so it'll get worse as the weather improves!) Trick I used is to cut up old motorbike inner tubes into strips and wedge them in the gaps around the dash. This seems to have fixed most rattles and squeaks.

Wink

'They all do that sir'

I find mine MY99 worse in the winter.

New Impreza interior is more like VW quality.

Take the radio out of the dash, at the back there is a large rubber support with a protruding lug which locates in a metal hole, apply some lubricant to the rubber prong, this will allow it to seat in the metal support bracket properly, if it's inserted "dry", then it doesn't go in fully and strains against the centre console.
