Question SECS unit advice for shift light alternative

I am about to shortly purchase a SECS unit for a MY99 and was going to install a chift lilght and external boost sensor. However, the shift light appears to be rather large and I was after something similar to an alarm LED to fit into the dashboard. The details of external connection appears to be straight forward and I have found a 12V rated LED but does anyone have any experience or advice on this. Would it cause a problem with the unit?
Thanks

I've been running with a SECS unit & shift light for the last month. The advantage with their shift light is its large & very bright. I found you don't need to look at it to see it work even in daylight, it just catches the corner of your eye.
How about remove the LED from its surround and mount in your dash Bepoke style.
I'm sure Simon could help you ref any technical issues.
