Dear all,

Over the last few days the weather has been getting a lot colder. Since then I have noticed that the display on my SECS is not as clear.
I had a similar problem on a very hot day during the summer when I lost the display all together. Once the inside of the car had cooled with the air con the display returned to normal.

Has anyone else experienced similar problems with temperature sensitivity?

I did notice when the car was very hot that the display wasn't as easy to read but after turning the contrast setting up to max it was fine.

Lost my display completely when the inside of the car got hot.
OK in the cold so far

Display acts like its in slow motion when very cold on mine. Solved the very hot problem by leaving one of them big road maps on top of the SECS unit when i was away from the car so the sun couldn`t get directly at it and heat it up too much (mine`s an MY00 classic dash, so the secs unit sits on top of dash)

Altering the contrast has definitely helped.

Just as Abbylad says though the screen seems to respond slowly when cold.

Looks like it is just a "feature"

Not much you can do about it, a feature of liquid crystal displays (LCD) is that they don't work very well when there cold. The liquid becomes denser due to the cold. This would give the slow update effect you are describing.

Just wait a while for the heater to warm the car up. You shouldn't be booting it, and hence having to look a the guages, until it's warmed up properly anyway
