I've got Kenwood stereo remote controls fixed to the back of the steering wheel with self adhessive velco (Hook and loop fasteners). However on hot days the heat simply causes the adhesive to soften and the controls end up in the foot-well. I've tried cleaning the plastic on the back of the wheel with meths etc. and using new velco, but in the current hot weather they're falling of every day !!!

Any bright ideas ? (Please don't say buy a Golf/BMW) with the controls already on the wheel !)

Thanks,

Ian

Buy a Blaupunkt so that the remote is secured to the wheel with a strap

Well I didn't suggest buying a new car

Alternatively try some better glue instead of the self adhesive on the back of the velccro pad - say a bit of expoy resin stuff - try a model shop and ask them perhaps or a DIY shop they usually have all sorts of glue etc.

I've secured my turbo timer with velcro which was fastened on with a bit of impact adhesive stuff (the type where you coat both surfaces wait for it to almost dry then press together). It's never fallen of other than when I pull it a bit hard and the velcro doesn't let go and it rips the velcro and leaves the glue behind

I had the same problem, finally sorted it with Blue Tac know it sounds daft but it can be moulded to the shape of the wheel and doesn't show, been on over a month now no probs (Thanks Steve)

Cheers for the replies. I'll give the blu tac a go first as it sound's less extreme than contact adhesive. Nature's helped by it being a lot colder now !!!

Thanks,

Ian

I use the heavy duty Velcro from Halfords, for my Knock Link, in the hottest weather it does go very soft and start to come away, but I just push it back
