Centre sub visor ?

Is that visor on my STi Type UK in front of the rear view mirror a sun visor or am I missing something ? It doesn't come any lower than the roof so won't block any sun.

it's for blocking out the sun (what sun 
) between the two main visors AFAIK - to stop you being blinded by the bit in the middle 
as you go round corners etc
I've used it a couple of times (story of my life again) but unless you leave it down all the time you're either round the bend by then 
or it's not safe to reach for it... It can be OK on M-ways if sun's in wrong position for a while.
