Hi Paul

Ive managed to take a few pics of my MY00 Instrument Cluster, and the bulbs which go in there

Hope this makes sense

1. Rev Counter

2. Speedo

3. Speedo

4. Fuel & Temp

5. Clock

6. Indicator

7. Indicator

The remaining bulbs are the various warning lights

The only bulb I could get to fit as a direct replacement was 4. the temp/fuel gauge, which was a little dark, and not always fully visible

the blue holders have a slightly larger bulb than the rest (3 of them), but the sockets and holders are the same as the rest of the dash lights (including all the heater ones), and the LED's wont fit through the sockets

Part II

The Heater section & Cigarette lighter all use the same bulbs (3 in total)

They are standard bulbs but with a green rubber sleeve over them to give the green light

and this pic shows the comparison in size to the LED's

the Cigarette lighter & one of the heater bulbs are very easy to change, the remaining heater bulb looks to be very very awkard to remove, i cant find a way to access it at the moment

but here is one of them unplugged

I think all these bulbs are 6mm in size compared to the LEDs which I think are 10mm

I bought some Glass Spray Paint, and painted a couple of bulbs and tried them in the cigarette lighter, but I dont think the coat of paint was thick enough, as it still shone relatively clear

Hope this helps

Regards

Steve

Hi beanchimp It's Huxley

IIRC the Chap from Holland that had done this conversion on his my2000"IIRC" scoob fitted the lamps from the inside of the cluster by splitting it in half and shaving down the back of the bulb to go through the slot on the cluster then a quick dab with the soldering iron for the conections.

I will try and find his email address and mail him to see if he can shed some light on it.

Regards Huxley

Hi Hux

I did try doing that with one of the LED's, and at a push I could get them working, but it would be more permanent

the Heater ones I cant see any other way of doing, without either getting the smaller 6mm brighter LED's or some little blue rubber sheaths to replace the green ones
