I think you'll find any cars pre 97 (unless an STI WRX etc etc) will have the pile of pap interior. Mine did when I bought it was a UK spec turbo 2000. Thankfully you can slot the buckets straight in with no problems. I got door cards and all seats for £350 which was nice.

Basically, all export (i.e. UK spec) cars pre MY97 have bad interiors (i.e. ugly airbag wheel, grey cloth seats), MY 97 has bucket seats but it still has that nasty airbag wheel. It's only MY98 onwards that it had a respectable interior (i.e. Momo airbag wheel+bucket seats).
JDM cars are much better - they have had bucket seats since day one, not to mention the 3 spoke Nardi wheel which was fitted to non-airbag cars up to MY98 (drivers airbag was standard for JDM cars from MY98 onwards).

Mine is a '95 N with upgraded Prodrive full Recaro interior(same as Series Mcrae, but without the Seris Mcrae on the frontseats)Higly reccomended if you can buy it still, absolutely brilliant on twisty A\B roads aswell as the motorway, not really suitable for the, how do i say .....larger framed person, if you get my drift, as they are a bit snug.
