New to the forums here. Just picked up a 2015 Impreza Premium Sedan last week and have a few questions for a DIY project I'm considering.

1) Is it possible to swap out JUST steering wheel controls? I currently have an 11-button audio controls switch on my wheel, but I'm looking to actually downgrade to the simpler 8-button audio controls switch (from say a WRX or Forester of the same year) for a more seamless aftermarket HU integration. The two switches look similar in size and fit, so I figured it's possible. See below.

2) If the swap is possible, would any sort of modifications need to be made to the electrical wiring/harness the new controls connect to? Or would this mod be more of a "plug and play" type of deal?

I'm really shooting in the dark here, but any help or details on the work foreseen to get this done is appreciated.

Most headunits have the option to use and reprogram the swc with the optional canbus adaptor,, I assume yours will also, I know mine does

I don't currently have swc on my wheel so I'm looking at a newer wheel that does but the option is there in the car settings of my hu
