Default Bugeye WRX 02->06 gauge cluster swap questions

Hey! So I have the following gauge cluster in my Bugeye wrx 02. And I have a set of 06 wrx gauges at home. Does anyone have any experience with this swap? Any rewiring needed, or does anyone have any wiring diagrams?

After swapping in an 03 cluster into my 07 Hawkeye to troubleshoot the Outside Temp reading, I discovered that the ABS circuit polarity is reversed between 02-05 & 05-07 models, so the ABS light will operate in reverse fashion, i.e. it will stay on permanently unless you have a fault with the ABS (this in the UK will be an MOT fail). To remedy this you're going to need to use a relay to flip the polarity.

Hi the sti speedo would have been a much better upgrade and it would be a straight swap with an addition of having a shift light and your revs being in the middle also a nice blue black ground why go through all the hassle only to upgrade to a later wrx one??

Got to agree with this too, the Sti cluster is alot better looking and an easier swap.

Going one step further the Defi style amber ones look even better

The only reason for this is that I got the cluster handed to me, and I like the tacho being in the middle. Other than that no reason for doing the swap, a nice little free update to the interior!

Fair enough

Have you plugged it in to see what happens?

It only take a couple of mins to do, I did this then used the above thread to diagnose any issues.

Mine was as simple as trimming a plug and snipping one wire.

02-05 STi cluster is a straight plug and play swap!

So the fact that it's a WRX cluster, is irrelevant, it's an 06 from a Hawk that is the issue?

Correct the polarity on a parts of the Hawk cluster is reversed.

Some of it can be corrected by relays, other not. Speaking from experience.

In the end I just waited for a hawk cluster and it was a simple swap

But you are going to have to pay to have the odometer reading corrected (unless you can do it yourself) so it's not as "free" as you might think.

This car is never leaving my possession so I don't really care about the odometer

How did you overcome the DCCD and rear diff temp lights staying illuminated - just pull the bulbs ? I might be tempted to install a set to my wrx hawk if it's that simple (in addition to the wire cutting and trimming down).

I actually black taped it but inside the cluster so it can't be seen, there are no bulbs to pull in this one

Just for info, had the cluster re-clocked and got a sticker stating cluster swap. Everything works perfect, the only thing wrong is that the ABS light is reversed, so it stays on all the time and goes out on ABS failure... But I'll thrown in a reverse relay and sort it out. Happy with the rev counter being in the middle now

Thanks for all the help guys!
