Question Forester STi SG9, central dash, plasti-dip

The dash has been repainted (badly) and then damaged. It's almost like it's had tar poured over it, rather than a 'proper' paint. I'll take it out, clean it up, prime, paint etc. but i have seen a rubber like paint (plasti-dip) that looks... intriguing... Anyone else used it and liked it? How does it wear on a dash over time?
