Default Fed up with Keith Michaels.....

providing stupidly competitive insurance renewals!

I need to explain this issue in full detail as it's beggars belief.

Every year since being with Keith Michaels (2009 on my reckoning), I've received very competitive insurance renewals on my Subaru's. At first this was on my previous highly modified SPEC C (600bhp), and then for my current modified JDM Hawkeye STi (490bhp).

Each insurance policy has been fully loaded and not some stripped down limited conditions policy. Fully comprehensive of course (minimal excesses, tax and claims insurance).

Each and every year since being with Keith Michaels I have always put a thread up about the excellent service and pricing I receive. This is for no reason other than I appreciate the service I receive, and feel obliged to thank those involved that provide me that service. We always find it easy to moan, but feel less inclined to congratulate excellent service when we experience it.

https://www.scoobynet.com/insurance-...oss-event.html

https://www.scoobynet.com/insurance-...-michaels.html

https://www.scoobynet.com/insurance-...ion-kings.html

https://www.scoobynet.com/insurance-...hp-spec-c.html

So far so good.

Whilst I appreciate that my circumstances that impact my quotes are not going to be the same as everyone else's, that should not detract from the great quotes I receive from Keith Michaels.

I have personally NEVER had one single problem with contacting Keith Michaels, which has always been via Gary (Moley_WRX on here). Every communicate has been timely.

Something I have never done before is actually provide any price details, with regards to the renewals from Keith Michaels. This time is going to be different...... simply because I'm truly taken back by this years renewal.

As alluded to above, ALL of my mods are declared (ranging from handling & brakes, through to engine ancillary upgrades to take the car to 490bhp). It's the full monty.

Just to reiterate, this is on a MY06 JDM Hawkeye STI.

Let's get the worse bit out of the way first..... I'm 42.

Last years renewal was £450 inc., which in my opinion is pretty awesome anyway.

I contacted Gary this morning and received a renewal quote within a few hours....... for £295!!

Again just to be clear, that is like for like with my current policy.

This denotes a 34% DECREASE on what I thought was previously exceptional value.

I still can't believe it and hence this posting in the manner that has been presented.

That's £295 fully comp on a 490bhp JDM Hawkeye STI! That has to be the deal of the year surely.

Thanks to Gary and Keith Michaels.

Car insurance has come down quite a bit since late last year (maybe there is less crash for cash scams as before)

It's in anticipation that the new rules that came into effect in April last year regarding PI costs have worked.

Insurers have been assuming it'd make things better, so have been lowering their prices accordingly.

However, according to one of the largest insurers initial indications are no.... it hasn't worked, and the lower rates in the last year combined with no change (or very little in PI costs) are likely to make prices go UP later this year.

This is only a possibility so far, but don't hold your breath.

HOWEVER, the specialist schemes we use are underwritten and looked at in a different way to 'normal' policies.... so Subaru owners need not panic about the above.

Oh yes
I remember when the God of Insurance once put my premium up by a quid some five years ago

He never did it again
Infact I don't even bother looking around when you have a bloke as
Decent as Gary
£210 I pay all fully loaded and am a good client

A classic post when I saw the headline I assumed it was a newby / low poster who writes in text speech
Who wanted to grumble

Glad it's reduced.
Got mine through for my Leon FR today and that too has reduced slightly, which was a surprise.
The Scoob was re-insured back in September, so I'll have to wait another 8 months for my big reduction

What day is it again!?..... I think I passed out on Friday and only just come round again.

In all honesty it's the fact that last years price has been beaten (and by such a massive amount), as I always thought previous renewals were at a good price based on car and the level of mods and declared power.

i think im going to have to check these guys out at renewal time as im paying through the nose and it keeps going up. £80 odd a month for a 97 JDM STI at the age of 31 with over 10 yrs NCB is just wrong.

Not heard of these guys before, I will get a quote next year from them! I was on £650 on a Fiesta ST with Adrian flux, upgraded to my Subaru Impreza STI uk version and they wanted £1550, shopped around and got £550 with Sainsburys!
