Default Insurance friendly mods

Obviously all mods need to be on policy but was wondering if some are less frowned apon than others what can you do before it starts to sting,
Brakes?springs?arb?

depends on who your insured with, some places dont mind certain mods or add a small fee, some places will just uninsure you on the spot.

Insurer specific.....also will often add a premium for I being a modified car but a lot after that are cost neutral depending what your doing

fitting SUBARU brakes ie brembo from a newer car was fine with aviva, had a quick chat with thier engineer bloke and explained it was like fitting mondeo st220 brakes on a 1.8lx no problem he said so long as the parts are fitted as std on a subaru

Cosmetic usually will not cost much or anything.

Performance enhancing changes can effect premium. Eg , supercharge an NA car and it's likely the price of your insurance will go up, add a set of uprated brakes and the price may not go up.

Will very between insurers, some insurers (in my opinion the insurers who do not have a clue) go by BHP estimates.. a sensible insurer goes by the actual modification.

What ever happens, if the car is modified, most likely you'll be better off with a modification friendly specialist insurer.
