Is LV given up completely on modified cars? I just tried to get a quote online and listing just a few of my many mods and they say "cannot insure this car", they used to.

If you have a couple of basic mods they are ok with it, though they seemed to quote a silly amount for them. Youre best off calling them though as they can quote better over the phone.

I stopped getting quotes from LV when they said that a 1.6 205 gti was too powerful for me at 19 and couldn't give me a figure. Also wanted to charge my dad an extra £650 to put me on his 1.8 focus diesel when I was 23 as the engine capicity was high.....

Try an insurer where you can speak to a human being, it is almost impossible to build a quotation device for modified cars.

Feel free to get in touch:

Maybe they got stung badly with claims on them?

LV do technically cover mods, but not via their 'LV Direct' product.

As above, the best option is to speak to one of the specialist insurers on here.

My guess is too many mods making their online quotation system fail.

In the good old days LV would cover any mod with no extra charge, aslong as the engine cc didn't increase (IIRC)

So, on that basis you could forge the engine, add a massive turbo, standalone management and even a NOS kit free of charge! Happy days. I wonder why they stopped
