27 yr old female 2003 WRX
Hi All
Just did a gocompare quote and ended up with a quote of £1800, which I was pretty shocked by given that I currently pay £450 through Brentacre for my Golf GTi Turbo, I was expecting an increase, but that's a big difference.
I did the quote based on a 2003 WRX 225bhp, although I haven't bought one yet.
I'm 27, license since nov 04, 4 yrs no claims, 1 sp30 June 07
Got insured on my other halfs 300+ bhp 200SX easily so not sure why these quotes have come out so high.

A lot depends on your postcode but price comparison sites where almost double what my renewal was with a plan, and the comparison sites I had to use a uk car to get price as didn't list imports so realistically probably would be more.

Update - not going so well at the moment, waiting to hear back from A-Plan and Keith Michaels but tried Aviva last night as the lowest I could get it was £1480 and that was with £800 excess.
Looks like my impreza dream may be over before its begun as I can't really justify insurance of over 1k compared to my current £450.

Sorry to say it but if you get anything under 1k i would be astonished.
3 Things not in your favor
1.your 27
2.you only have 4 years ncb
3.you have a sp30
I am 33 and have full ncb no points and i still pay upward of 700 fully comp

The no claims is a bit of a pain, in reality its more than that but when I first started driving I didn't have my own car so just borrowed my dads occasionally and was named on his insurance, if I wait til the end of August I think I should have 5 years nc by then as my renewal for the current car is end of august.
The SP30 was over 4 years ago and no longer counts on my license, just annoying that ins companies take it from last 5 years rather than last 4 I suppose.
I live in a fairly good 'B' postcode and the car is kept on the drive so hopefully that should help.
My boyfriend is 25 and drives a highly modified 200SX with over 300bhp, has about the same no claims as me and a no fault claim and only pays £600 so I guess I just wasn't expecting it to be so high.

the joys of owning a mitsi or a subaru expect premiums to be high
saying that i paid the same amount for an m3 evo and struggled to find good insurace for that. And having a 25yo boyfriend if you want him on the policy expect a high premium.

Most Expensive Cars to Insure: Subaru Impreza WRX
You may think of the Subaru Impreza WRX as an affordable, high-performance vehicle that offers a lot of bang for your buck. To insurers, though, "performance" is a four-letter word. The power and speed of the WRX that make it so attractive to buyers are exactly what make it so unattractive to insurers. As a result, the Subaru Impreza WRX ranked #4 on the Highway Loss Data Institute's list of the top ten most expensive vehicles to insure. So, if you're considering purchasing a WRX, you should first evaluate the true cost of ownership by factoring in its high car insurance costs. In this post, we'll talk more about what makes a car expensive to insure and explain how this relates to the WRX.
Facts about the WRX
Although Subaru is trying to distance the car from this image, the WRX has historically been regarded as a "boy racer." In other words, the Impreza WRX has the strongest appeal with the young male demographic. This demographic tends to favor sporty, high-performance vehicles that are relatively inexpensive. The Subaru fits the bill perfectly. The attributes of the Subaru Impreza WRX that are most important to car insurance costs include:
Starts at $24,350
2.5 L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine
248 horsepower
Marketed as high-performance sedan
Does 0-60 mph in 5.5 seconds
Appeals to younger drivers
Why Premiums Are So High
Even if you've never had an accident and live in an area with low theft and collision rates, your car insurance rates will still be sky high if you drive a WRX. Your driving history, location, and demographics are only part of what determines your premiums. The type of vehicle you drive will in particular influence how high your comprehensive and collision premiums are. If you're wondering why premiums are so high for the WRX, here's the answer:
Higher collision rates. The fact that the WRX ranked on the Highway Loss Data Institute's list means two things. First, the WRX tends to be involved in more accidents than other cars. In addition, when the WRX is involved in crashes, it has higher collision losses associated with it than other vehicles. Put simply, the WRX is in more wrecks on average, and these wrecks tend to be more serious and more expensive than those of other cars. All of this spells risk to insurers, and this is reflected in higher premiums.
Risky drivers. Even though it might not be fair, you will be held financially accountable for the mistakes other drivers of the WRX make. In other words, if drivers of the Subaru WRX are more likely to speed and crash, then your premiums will be higher regardless of how clean your driving record is.

Boyfriend will be 26 on Sunday so maybe slightly better, I'm not putting him on the insurance if it increases it significantly though and he knows that, although I guess he may offer to pay the extra which would be fine. His insurance is with Sky, does it make any difference if I go with the same insurer do you think as he has a good 6 year track record with the SX (although only this year with the power increase).

Interestingly I've just got off the phone with someone from the APlan Fareham branch after being put through from doing a quote with performance direct (not quite sure how or why) but anyway, they claimed not to have a quote in the system for me despite me speaking to Chris 2 days ago and being told I'd be contacted with a quote.
They suggested that I add my Dad to the policy as a named driver and it brought the quote down to £1097 which is the best I've had so far. Admittedly I hadn't thought of that, but I'm sure he'd love to have a go at driving it so its actually quite a good idea.

Scooby is on the drive now and all insured. Thanks to Sam Kilburn at Sky Insurance for sorting me out a very good quote of £862 for myself and my other half full comp! Thought putting him on the policy would put the insurance up as he's a year younger than me but because he's had his modded 200sx for 5 years now they said they wouldn't increase the policy to add him

Thats a hell of a price drop from the 1800 odd your orginally got quoted! I might have to give A Plan or Sky a ring next week as just got a WRX STi recently and my insurance is up on the 20th of this month, best price ive got so far is £853
