Question

I'm hoping to buy a '94 WRX in the next few weeks, except quotes so far all seem to be DOUBLE that of a UK model, I thought it was only supposed to be 25% odd more...

I'm only 21 with 0 NCB, had licence for 2 years, no claims accidents etc. and I have a cheap postcode

I can get quotes of about £1500 for a UK turbo model with Tesco/Privilege but they are £3000 for a WRX!

Anyone know if the quote for an import is reduced when you have the reg. no.?

Also anyone have a WRX that is recognised correctly by insurance companies since I've managed to get a couple of WRX reg. no.s from dealers but they are incorrectly recognised as 1.8 imprezas?!

Thanks in advance

Hmm..

WRX will be more, but shouldn't be double. I did a 98 UK Turbo against a 98 Sti IV on tescos' quote thingy. UK was £960, the sti £1400, but remember thats more expensive again than a straight WRX.

Interestingly I found on both quotes that garaging the car made about £30 a year difference.. Strange when you consider some companies would cover you unless its garaged..

Question

I actually found my import WRX (94) cheaper to insure than UK car, and didn't need tracker (but did for UK car). Paid about £530 with Schofields 0113 250 0377. It's probably more to do with your age than car (I am 34) with the companies that are import friendly not being age friendly.

When I insured my car(my94 Sti) the original
quote was for a WRX, but when I got another
quote for the Sti they told me it was the same price,
I seem to remember something about the cars showing
up as 1800's now that you mention it. Maybe thats
what it was rung with :,)

Welcome to my nightmare. I'm just waiting for my insurers to call me back for a full quote on how much more I've got to pay for my Dawes. God, this is the bit that I hate most...
