VW insurance
Sister in law has just spoken to her insurer (aviva) about insuring a golf 1.6se auto (group 6). She was forced off the road in her Pajero (group 13) and wrote her car off so is on the look out for a new car. She got a quote for an Audi A3 1.8 auto (group 11).
The insurance quote for the Audi was an extra £3 a month on top of her premium for the Pajero. We went and looked at the Audi but it was a pos, so walked, however the insurance company took a months premium out for the Audi even though she only asked for a quote.
She has just phoned them again and asked for a quote on the Golf and the premium has shot up an extra £17 a month for a car in a much lower insurance category. When she asked why she was told that VW add their own premium of £47 to each insurance policy. Having owned three VW's (currently have a mk1 golf cabrio that costs me £130 a year on classic insurance) this is the first I've heard of this and believe it to be a load of bullshizzle.
So, can any of the insurance bods on here put me right, is this correct or a load of flanel?
