Hi, it totally depends on the insurer, the right insurers will not charge extra though

With all the petrol price hikes Im sure thats a question that will get asked many times. I cant see why premiums would/should go up other than to cover the slightly increased value of the vehicle but this I would have thought would be minimal.

But you can use the full power if and when you want. It would be no different in saying to the insurance company look I only have 275bhp when my foot is completely down and Im at 6500 revs. Normally I go around at between 2500 and 4000 revs and using 100bhp so insure me for the same as a Fiat Panda please.

JUST?! I wouldn't call £240 a year extra just. Did they say why they charge that much?

I put my wife on the insurance mid way throught the year total extra to pay £140. When it came to renewal it was £20 for the year. Im sure they make it up as they go along. If any one has read my posts on the other insurance thread you will see that they charged me very little to add a prodrive backbox, alloys, uprated brakes and rear skirt but well over £500 for a prodrive sticker.

I cant understand it but they quoted me £250 less than anyone else so the stickers not going to be on there. I have until the 13th so will ring them and just see what they say about me having one I cant believe they will charge me for it. By the way it was around £560 or near abouts. They also rated me as a teahcer £700 less than either a doctor, lawyer or a lorry driver for goodness sake.

Its the postcode. Thats the things that is crippling. I initially went on comparethe market.com and the cheapest quote was £1800. I then used go compare, cheapest quote £1100. I spent around 6 hours in total taking mods off adding drivers to reduce cost etc got the cheapest at £830 everything except alloys declared. Went on their website directly and they then added £14 for alloys. Gocompare added £350. So ended up with all mods declared for £844.

...also the price for mine with mods being WRX alloys, WRX brakes, GB270 rear valance and prodrive backbox is exactly the same as a standard WRX. That really annoys me as its practically a WRX but with less power so why is it the same to insure? This is what I mean by they make it up as they go along.

Holy crap, this business with Insurance/Comparing websites its true,my brother try some websites, but has fed up after 3 hours looking for cheapest deal(un-modded WRX wagon we are paid around £1k as cheapest, and modded £ on top 800).6 hours looking for insurance, this is fair play to you matey and lot of patience....

Its not right. Its not right that instead of the government or the insurance companies sorting out this crash for cash issue people living in these areas have to foot the bill. Its seems like the easy quick fix but Moley said that hopefully by next year things will get sorted out but in the mean time we suffer.
