Default Octane Insurance - Any Experiences?

Been shopping around for a while looking for insurance on my 05 plate WRX. The usual specialists were coming in around £1,400 however Admiral undercut everybody at £1,118 which I nearly ended up going with. Had a call from Quoteline Direct who are a comparison site and provided me with a number of prices.

Had a call from them earlier this week and the referred my case to their underwriters who have now come back with a policy for £1,042 from a company called Octane Insurance.

I'm 31 with full protected NCB, clean licence and missus insured on the car. Only downside I live in Manchester and car is parked in residential parking. Has anyone ever come accross Octane? Looked on Google and can't see much about them. All Quoteline can tell me is the basic details of the policy such as excess etc.

Any help appreciated.

Mike

Not heard of them before but the price seems excessive (although admittedly I don't know what effect the Manchester postcode has on it) but I take it you have tried KM, A-Plan and Sky already as one of them usually comes out with the better prices?

Yes Manchester is one of the worst postcodes, 2 insurers wouldn't even touch an Impreza with a Manchester postcode.

Tried Chris @ A-Plan and Moley @ KM and both were coming in around £1,400 mark.

They certainly aint got a website or if they have Google hasn't found it, all I can find is an article on insurancetimes.co.uk saying they are looking for £5M GWP of 'hard to place' policies the rest of the artice is susbcriber only content.

Dave, do you pay to advertise on here? If not, it's a little naughty touting for business.

You need to contact Stu if you wish to put your number on here as Gary, Ollie and I have.

Regards

Chris

i got my policy through the insurance factory with octane in the end, i havent had to use the policy as such, so i dont know how good they are in the event of a claim.
the insurance factory were surprisingly helpful and nice, i dont know what i was expecting, but it was nice! 585 i ended up paying, 15 quid better than the next quote, which was 95 quid better than the next, and both are on this thread!!!!
