Talking

Well, after getting my renewal of 850ish quid from Flux, I phoned around and no-one could beat it, not even Greenlight (they reckoned 900+ yeah right ). Then phoned Chris Knott and got 777. Flux beat it to 745 and 400 excess, and then CK phoned back having got to 737 and 350 excess. I have to say I'm well impressed and a very nice chap on the end of the phone too
All the usual stuff on the policy, uninsured loss, courtesy car, legal cover etc......

So some stats. Me 26, 7 years protected no claims, 1 non fault accident, parked on drive, cat1 alarm and navtrak proactive, RG postcode, driving since feb 94, MY99 Uk scoob with Eibachs, 17s, full stainless zorst, ITG, Clear indicators/repeaters and EBC discs and pads.

As I said above 737 and 350 excess

Give these guys a call they seem to be coming in generally very well on scoobs.

No connection blah blah blah......

Cheers
Neil

Question

Thought they didn't entertain mods?

Just a question as my renewal is due soon.

OK so now I'm confused....when I rang Chris Knott the first questions she (Kim) asked me were

1) Is the car an import?
2) Is the car modded?
3) Are you under 30?

She then said that if any of these questions were answered 'yes' then they won't insure. Unless something has radically changed since three weeks ago this seems odd to me.

I'm not casting doubt on the validity of the original post however either Chris Knott are not using the same underwriters or something else has changed.

Does anyone know why this has happened? Anyone from Chris Knott use this forum?

Guys,

Chris Knott do have a login on here - the guy I spoke to told me, not sure how often they check in.

I did the quote - they didn't ask re mods but I told them and he said it was fine. I then sent an email to them with all mods detailed and again, no problems whatsoever. I was told the only thing the underwriter didn't like was cars which were really lowered.

I think I spoke to one of the directors as he said he normally doesn't do quotes but they've been so busy with Impreza quotes etc it was all hands on deck.

I also asked about future modifications and again was told no problems whatsoever, they would entertain pretty much anything except what I've already mentioned.

Think we need to get some clarification re what is and isn't allowed......

Cheers
Neil.

Indeed - I'm sure it probably comes down to a lot of other factors like claims history, postcode etc too but would be good to know for sure......

Sorry about the delay - too busy reading the posts to reply to them.

However, here we go:

Firstly, thanx for all the support over the last couple of weeks. On the things we are good at, we are very good and on the things we are not good at, we are poor.

Therefore, to benefit the majority of members, we can only insure drivers over 25 and, at the moment at least, we can't do Jap Imports (this is currently being looked at). UK Spec Imports are OK though.

Modifications - cosmetic mods = OK. Alloys, exhausts + air filters = OK. Lowered suspension = NOT OK.

We have had a tremendous success rate (witnessed here on the forum) and we know we won't be the best on every single case but we will try our hardest.

Thanx again for your support.

The mods listed in my last post are generally acceptable - of course, odd cases may be unacceptable.

I am looking to renew at the moment. The problem I can see with Chris Knott is that when i rang for a quote they are only open from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, How much more is it worth to have a company open 24/7?

Further to Victoria's comment about working 24/7, it seems to me a sad indictment on our society that we want everything NOW, this minute, no matter what time of day or night.
Who would want to work at 9pm on a Friday or Saturday night on a clerical basis? OK, some vocations insist on working different hours but doing insurance quotations!

CK have just quoted me £820 inc NCD protection, legal cover etc... £110 cheaper than my renewal from Direct Line.

35yrs, full NCD, 1 fault claim (whilst protected).
WRX 01 Wagon, PPP, 18" OZ, Morettes.
Garaged, Trackstar.

Guess I'll take it

PNE:

I think you have missed my point somewhat. I work from 9 to 5 Monday to friday and am not able to make pesonal phone calls. To me a company that is not open when I am at home with access to a phone isn't much use really, is it?

I do believe that staff of insurance companies get paid for their time, and perhaps some of them want to work those hours? As a customer having to part with a lot of my hard earned, I expect a certain level of service.

I hope this clarifies my message

Victoria.

Thumbs down

Gareth,
im in the same boat as you, 1 claim (50/50) full ncd, with direct line, MY00 with PPP and downpipe, but i doubt that CK will touch me cos im a high risk area so direct line will do for me also have uprated brakes and alloys... these will count against me for sure even Scholfields couldnt compete..
