Default Insurance woes HELP

I`m looking at getting a classic STI,but the insurance is STUPID,i`m 31,married,kids etc,the problem is i`ve no NCB,been driving since 17,3 points speeding blah blah, can`t get it less than 1800 ,i knew it would be expensive but that`s just stupid.

I drive trucks all over Europe and always get supplied company cars to come home in so never needed to own a car,but really want a Scooby, can anyone recommend a decent insurer that may be able to get the price down.Tried the confused.com.

Oh and new to the site so be gentle, thank`s y`all

My mum had a similar problem. Some companies will give you some NCB if you can prove that you have been driving accident free for a number of years. My mum got a letter from her employer stating that and they gave her 1 years NCB for every 2 years of accident free driving.

And remember, no matter what your driving history, unless you have recent experience with a turbo 4WD, you'll get loaded for that in your 1st year. I was loaded about 20% despite going from a 200bhp cav into a 215bhp impreza because I went from 2 to 4WD.

Depending on the insurer and driver details an import can be more than twice as much.

When I insured my first Impreza with 0 ncb at around your age an STi was quoted as £3100, a UK classic was less than £1500.

Get some quotes for a UK car, keep that for 3 years to build up some ncb then go for an import.
