Default PPP and Insurance

I know this topic has been covered again and again and again, but the most recent thread I could find was from 2006.

I'm thinking of getting a 2005 WRX with PPP, but I've heard the stories of people having problems with Insurance Companies accepting the PPP, is this still the case or have the insurance companies accepted that the PPP is a factory fitted option?

If anyone can help me with this than I'll be very grateful

Cheers

I had no problems with the specialist companies when looking for mine with PPP, but some of the more general companies don't know what it is so consider each component as an individual modification so don't accept it or charge through the nose for it.

If its factory fitted then you have a lot fewer problems with getting quotes with the more general companies. If ppp is fitted after then its classed as non standard and you have to pay a heavy premium. This does not apply to Keith Michaels as they are good with modded vehicles and dont load the premiums.

Oddly, Privilege were fine with my PPP. Although they didn't know what it was, I was able to log it with them as a kit of mods - chip that takes power up by x%, exhaust, etc and I am still finding them pretty cheap. Big factor is where you live of course

In the summeder 2005 Subaru fitted the PPP package for free to try and shift a few more units , if yours is one of these cars then a lot of the insurers have them on their system listed as something like WRX (free PPP) or the STI is listed as a UK 301 . I'm with Privilege and my 05 STI is insured as a UK 301 and therefore no extra mods . Hope this may help

Go with a specialist, my vote goes to Keith Michaels (ask for Gary Moulson)
