Alot of insurance goes on the following:-
Age
Car type
Claims
Convictions
NCB
Area you live in.
Im 33, have an Impreza MY00 turbo with ppp, upgraded brakes, 17 inch PD7's, lots of security, 2 claims (1 non fault and 1 50/50, both in a company vehicle) full protected no claims and it still costs me just under 1200quid a year
I also think that living in a high risk area does have something to do with it too
If you go online and do your insurance you can get upto 10% off in some cases (which is worth it IMHO) but some wont insure you online and you have to speak with the insurer direct (hopefully with a number of the quote so you still get the discount
)
If your under 25 you may find it harder as some insurance co's wont insure you, also Jap imports cost more to insure than uk spec cars due to the higher power output and availablitly of parts.
What you havnt said is your age and the scoob your looking at getting, both will make a difference on your insurance and the sad thing is is that insurance is going up and not down at the moment

I don't think many are very good when it comes to claims, so go with a cheap one, or don't bother at all!!!!!( I wish i hadn't!!)
