ADVICE NEEDED FOR BUSINESS USE>
I currently have an MY01 WRX insured with Tesco. I also have my girlfriend Clare added on as a second driver.
Now this is my own company car, so I have also upped the cover for business use.
Last week, I bought my girlfriend a new car (Vauxhall corsa). I also intend to use this car on business trips. She is also insured with Tesco, and I have now added myself onto her policy as a second driver.
I might also use this car for business commuting, so when I asked them also to up the cover for business, the told me that they could do this, but only Clare would be covered, and not the secondary driver (Me). The guy then went on to tell me that this should be ok, as if I had a claim, that I should lie, and say that I was not travelling for business purposes !!
I questioned this, and asked him to speak to a supervisor, who then told me that unless I was married to Clare, that insuring me for business was illegal !!.
Anyay, I need to be insured on both cars for business use, so how do I do it.
Please help,
Olly.

Olly,
First of all it is NOT illegal to provide Business Cover for you on your partners policy.
However it would result in a premium increase...
When you bought the car for her, did you register it in her name? If you did, could it be registered in your name...if so, you can set up a second car policy, with you as the policyholder, business use etc etc etc...
If you have maximum NCD on your own policy - certain companies will probably be able to provide maximum introductory discount for you as well...
If you want to chat further about the options...give me a call - 0113 250 0377
All the best
Tom
