Default £1200 Comp For 20 year old!

Hey all

This my first post.. I'm almost 20 with 2 years NCB and 3 years of holding my license. Previously owned MR2 N/A, BMW 318IS and at the moment I drive a Focus Zetec.. but looking for something a bit more special now..

My Dad (1964_marco) on this forum used to own a JDM Ver.4 WRX.. I loved it.. so looking at getting a Turbo 2000 as import insurance is out of the question.

Liverpool Victoria, quoted me £1200 Full Comprehensive on a 99' Impreza Turbo 2000 Saloon, £200 excess, Dad as a named driver, maximum mileage 3000 per year (I walk to work, car only for weekends). I'm training to be an Architect.

This was only my first attempt at a quote too! Playing it off another company I'm sure I can force that below £1000!!

Impreza time come June..

Cheers

Lee

I also live in deepest darkest Cornwall.. practically zero crime rate, the place 65% populated by over 70's! It does help too.

I've always had good insurance quotes by adding the old man, over 40, max. no claims bonus with no convictions etc.

I'm looking for an absolutely standard one, getting hard to find!! Want a 99' in dark blue, with no modifications.

I am 20 and have just bought a scoob and trying to insure it at the mo. No one seems to be even quoting me. I have just tried Liverpool Victoria, and they said I had to be 25, so how did you manage to get a quote?!

Its only for the UK version which is cheaper!

I'm 23 and I've been quoted 1067 pounds for a uk 02 plate bug eye wrx.
And I know a few people in Cornwall and there insurance quotes just aren't fair!

No mate, I added my mum as a named driver.

Have you tried getting a quote with the car having a tracker fitted? Thats what I did because i'll get one fitted as soon as I get the car?

And I'll check who the quotes are from for that price when I get chance tommorow evening

Hope that helps

if I'd have had quotes like that when I first bought the car (as soon as I turned 21) I'd have been laughing - £2300 for my first year - 3yrs ncb, no points, tracker, garaged, less than 8k miles per year, low crime area (supposedly)
26 now - full ncb 3points - just under £800 - Wondering who the hell I'm talking to when I insure mine

some people are too lucky. I am 31 years old, have had my licence for 12+ years and never had any convictions.

However due to owning company cars nearly all my life. To make matters worse the bmw's i did own years ago are of no significance due to the NCB that I racked up being completely out of date. So that leaves me with 1 years no claims (my RX7 was only with me for a 6 months so not help there).

Result:

Quotes in excess of £3000 :s (points at A-Plan)

Gary at KM was good, got me a quote for £1500 ish however others are being completely stupid. I guess I got stung for owning company cars which is a bummer.

Keep it up you jammy git, I am sure you will get it down to 3 figures lol

Sorry i honestly think its bull.

I had a quote from Quoteline direct for a Impreza P1, a quote for 1800fully comp,at 21 with DR10, 3years driving 2ycb, limit milage, with the dad as second driver.

When i rang them up to make sure all the detake were correct they turned around and said there computer made a error. I got 2 more separate quotes form them after online and each time i got the same reply from the chap at the end of the phone "Sorry out computer deffinatly made a error".

Im now paying £2440 which is more reasonably for my age.

Can't you get a letter off your company mate? Worked for my mother when she changed her job. Her company sent her a letter on headed paper to say that she had been insured on their policy for x amount of years and the insurance company accepted it and reduced her quote by a fair whack

Aye doing that at the moment, hoping to get a decent response soon from the recent company I was with. Previous company I had 3 different company cars and only for 7 months in total in the first year due to teleworking sometimes.

I am pretty sure I'll get it lower if I shop around.
