Been phoning around for quotes myself this morning, best I've got so far is £909 from adrian flux, for

'97 WRX Wagon with de-cat exhaust, full NCB, 34 yrs old, off street parking.

Also confirmed that adding link ecu will not effect premium.

Try Tescos - they'll even give you an online quote
Go through the Personal Finance section of their website. (Try not to do it at busy times 'cus the website is fairly flakey). Alternatively the same quote engine (although different quote) is available on the direct-line web site

Always worth giving Tom Butler (Rum*, pirum, whatever he's changed his name to these days ) at schofileds a call, they insure the blackbeast, which is a modded MY94 WRX Wagon.

his number is 0113 250 0377

I'll second Markus' recommendation and try Schofields, John was a great help when my renewal was due!

Regardless of which insurance broker you use, beware of ones that encourage you to give false information

One frequently mentioned on this board recently told me "not to bother" to declare a vandalism claim on my company car, as it was "99% certain that they wouldnt find out"
(the broker hadnt managed to negotiate a protected no-claims with the claim on there as it had been in the last 12 months)

I am not willing to take that risk

I'd prefer not to name and shame (for various reasons), and as such I would rather not say it was not anyone in particular (as that would tend to point the finger of suspicion elsewhere, and I'll spend the rest of my life saying it wasn't X, Y, or Z company)
[How many double negatives can I get in a sentence?]

Suffice to say it is NEVER worth covering up (non-disclosing) anything marginally relevant..If you write off your newly acquired pride and joy, most insurance companies will find any (however small) excuse to keep 20-ish big ones in their pockets (in fact they employ some very astute people to do nothing else)

Moral:
Declare claims, convictions, mods, drivers, and the age of your grannies cat if required.

It would appear that Schofield Insurance Brokers was/is the guilty party in this instance.

I am obviously highly embarrassed/annoyed that one of my staff would ever consider "non-disclosure" as a way of reducing a premium in an attempt to "obtain" business.

It is equally upsetting, as I thought "we", as in Schofield Insurancce Brokers, were better than that!

As yet I have not heard my employees version of events (please note this does not mean that I doubt anything that Nick (Scumbag) has said)...however upon his return from his holiday no doubt he will advise why this "non-disclosure" idea entered his head.

Please accept my apologies on behalf of my employees for "tarnishing" what I thought was an excellent reputation.
