Just received a renewal notice on the Scoob for £2510.93 xs£400. Norwich Union (Coversure - Broker).

94WRX
Blitz Induction, SSBackBox, 99Spolier, 17'Wheels, Window tints.

28yrs old, 6 years ncb, 3 points (all older points declared)

It's gone up over a £1000 on last years insurance. What a rip off!

I'll keep you posted, with my research...

I certainly will not be going back to the broker or NU as the standard of service and administration has been a total farce!

Tim.

Keith,

Try Keith Michaels (0208) 642 7868 as I phoned most if not all of the brokers listed and my details sound fairly similar:

94 WRX
29 years old
6 years NCB + 3 points
Link, Wheels, complete exhaust, PiperX I/K, ALK, etc

£1020 protected through "Highway Insurance".

I was previously with NU and my last broker to their credit sent me a letter saying "please phone us for a quote" rather than sending a renewal figure that had gone into orbit ! - Having said that, that was the only thing they did of merit in the entire year.

Happy 'phoning.

Thanks

Gavin

Angry

I have also just received a renewal notice from Norwich Union through Endsleigh.
£677-75 up from £417 last year.
Car is a WRX MY96. I think the main reason for the hike is that the insurers have reclassified WRX's etc as group 20.
Any suggestions for a cheaper quote would obviously be welcome.

I agree with Gavin.

age 28
Std 95 WRX
8 year NCB
Cat1
Not garaged overnight

Quote of £780 with Keith Michaels. The xs is £500 and I don't think the NCB is protected.

Cool

Guys,
New to this lark, but just bought an MR2 import. Being 22, with 3 points and only 3yrs NCB, I had quotes ranging from £2500 (Adrian Flux) up to £8410 (Quoteline Direct).

Eventually tried ATS (sorry, don't know the number). They quoted £900 with £500XS.

Car is import MR2, with Clifford cat 1 immob.
17inch alloys.

Also un-limited ICE cover....

Seems like a good deal to me!!!!!

Exclamation

You've got to be careful with these insurance companies. When I got my car my details were:

23 yrs, 3 yrs ncb
3pts
MY94 WRX
Cat 1 alarm/immob

I had quotes from a number of insurance companies before I bought the car.
One of these companies - 1st Quote - quoted £1140 (the cheapest by far - one even quoted £10,000 !) and even sent it to me through the post. When I phoned to confirm the policy, they insisted that they did not insure under 25yr olds - obviously ****e as they had asked me for my date of birth before they gave the quote.

All I'm saying is be careful with some of these companies - they can leave you in all sorts of trouble.

At the moment I am with OPI (UK) Ltd in Birmingham, tel: 0870 242 0800, who gave me a policy for £1500 with £350 excess through Highway Insurance (not bad for a 23 year old). It might be worth giving them a ring.

Happy Hunting
