Glad to hear you saved so much money Toonman.
Over the last few years I have found that it is necessary to change insurance companies every year to get the best price - renewals are always more expensive than a new company's figure !!

The quote I got from Tesco insisted on some form of tracking device too.
Ended up going with quotelinedirect.co.uk, who were cheaper and don't require a tracker.
Edited to add comment about P1s having trackers anyway, and then edited again when I realised Toonman didn't specify his was a P1!

Im with direct line, they will specify that you have a tracker fitted though, but they were the cheapest for me tesco's didnt come close (300 quid off), also live in a high risk area so most companies laughed at me or gave me silly quotes (norwich union said 3500 quid!!!! ) ended up paying 1189 in total with alloys and performance pack fitted which still aint too bad (32 yrs old, full prot no claims, 2 accidents, 1 50/50 the other non fault)

Hi I got a good quote from Norwich Union direct (£676)mind you I did expect to get better as I am 42 with completely clean history.
I am going to try Tesco anyone got the number please
Sorry Forget that request I just called them and they gave me a quote for £987.00 and said I had to have atracker fitted and a £350 excess - I'll stick with Norwich Union I think - thanks anyway

Off the top of my head, I think the excess is £350. And it's a "no" to driving other cars, but I've got a second car on a policy that does allow that, so I wasn't fussed...
By the way, when I called them to confirm the quote, it ended up being cheaper than what the website quoted - that seems to be the opposite of most people's experience of on-line quotes...

Try to get a copy of What car June 2001. It has a supplement about what you can do on the web and some excellent insurance contacts inside the main mag.
Try all the companies mentioned in this thread and also a couple of specialists if you have no yound driver to insure.
