Approaching Insurers about new mods
#1
Ive got the new MY01 WRX. I want one of Pete Croneys Scoobysport full exhaust systems. Im concerned that this mod will invalidate my insurance - so ive got to tell them (Aid Flux). So... whats the best way of telling them im putting on a new exhaust without it sounding like theres going to be huge performance gains and them telling me to sod off?
Anyone any ideas/experience?
What information will the insurers need?
Thanks
Jza

They will normally ask what the BHP increase is. There are different bands which have different costs attatched to them. I upgraded the whole system and claimed 15 bhp , they cant really prove it so you can be a bit liberal. Say you are "changing the exhaust to a stainless one" rather than "im changing it to a full racing exhaust system" not sure how much difference it makes, I reckon it takes you out of the loony category though.
Don't think the warranty will like it though, unless its Prodrive, not sure though.
Mark.

Jza, I've had a similar conversation today regarding 17" wheels and PPP.
For the wheels they wanted an extra £15 and to increase the excess by £50, absolutely no interest in the PPP tho, "that'll be £2500".
cheers James
