MY01 Insurance
Yes - i bought one. Got quotes down to £800 (norwich union direct) but then questioned that it wasnt a grey import but a new UK model. They went to there technical bods and informed me the new car was cat 20!!! They wanted £1700!!!!
I rang my old insurers and they confirmed that the car is supposidly cat 20!
I ended up paying £1200 with adrian flux!!
The compaines i spoke to didnt seem switched on to the new model at all. Watch that they dont think its an import - the person may know its UK but they fill out the form. I had to write twice to confirm what my car was!!

Alas the insurers have got it wrong again....it is showing as a group 20 with most, if not all...
Although I can't use them myself....I have pointed a fair few enquiries to NFU...if you speak to them they will try and quote it giving reasonable rates.
We will obviously have a look at it as well...however to date I have found that we are still not competitive when it comes to the more standard Scoobs.
Cheers

Have just gone through the process of insuring my car, which involved countless phone calls and internet proposals. Common thread is that alot of the insurance companies have to get their act together as they still do not recognise the new version impreza and most quoted me for the more powerful variants.
However, ended up with the NFU for £837 who provide an excellent policy.
Hopefully the others will manage to get their databases corrected by renewal time next year.
Best of luck to those looking for insurance as their are not a lot of options out their.
It would really make my day to see this sector being forced into real global market competition.

I too ended up with NFU at £850. I did find the Privlege weren't too bad but i prefered NFU.
It seems so bizarre when the car is sadly slower (In standard trim) and in many peoples opinion less desireable that it costs so much more to insure.
But having said that i'm very happy with the service and the policy from NFU. Thanks to Karen for all her help so far.

yes, I can confirm this.
I live in london docklands - an area that attracts a loading of 77 out of 99 (quite high) - subaru privilege just quoted me 2358 pounds for a years insurance for a WRX Wagon (UK MY01).
can't beleive it!!
I have a clean license and nothing out of the ordinary, full ncb and have secure garaging... and also own a 5 dr scoob sport my99 which is only 600 GBP/yr...
The guy at subaru privilege phoned up the underwriters after I tried to make him believe it was not an import and that I was buying it from a UK dealer shortly... but it is still 2358. Luckily for me I found that Tesco (yes tesco!!) will do it for a grand less.
Surely this is going to have a massive impact on sales of this car... one has to wonder why a supermarket can quote a grand less than the subaru appointed insurance agent???!!!!????
