Insuring 2 Cars
Hi all,
I have 3 years no claims, and now I wanna insure a second car. My insurance company says my no claims is only valid on one car. and thus the insurance on the second car is horrendous, coz effectively it has zero no claims bonus. This sounds like rubbish to me, since the no claims is surely attached to me, and i can't drive two cars at once.....
How can I get a great deal on insuring two cars?
Any ideas?
Erik

Your insurance company is right (even though it is a ripoff)
However, a few of the insurance companies (usually brokers only) will give you a introductory no claims on you second vehicle equivelent to your current no claims.
One such company is Wilsons at

I am married and have full protected no claims (originally with directline) so i don't know if it makes a difference. However I also needed to insure a second car, moved the full no claims over to the wrx with NFU and reinsured the run around under my wifes name with directline who gave her full no claims as she was a named driver on my policy. The no claims cannot be protected until she does her 5 years, however belldirect said she could protect after the first year assuming no claims. There appears to be many interpretations out there so best advice is to shop around.
Hope this is of use

I agree its a daft rule but that's the way it works - Even worse, I ran 2 cars for a number of years then sold one. If the 2nd policy isn't paid up each year - even though you've sold the car, you lose the no claims after 2 years even though you're carrying on driving on the first policy. If Rum's around, is there any way around this ?
