JUST SPENT 4 DAYS ON THE PHONE SEARCHING FOR INSURANCE THIS YEAR. MY RENEWAL HAD GONE UP BY £234 TO £1034 WITH CATTERALLS, SO IT WAS TIME TO HIT THE YELLOW PAGES AND READ A FEW MAILS ON SCOOBYNET. I GOT ALL TYPES OF OBSCURE FIGURES UP TO £2100. THIS BASED ON ME 41 FULL NCD AND WIFE 38 ON RB5 PRODRIVE.
FINALLY FOUND WHAT I WANTED WITH TESCO BELIEVE IT OR NOT, THEY WOULD INSURE ME ON A STANDARD RB5 BUT GIVE ME THE PPP FOR NO EXTRA PREMIUM, WITH ME INSISTING PRODRIVE WAS ADDED TO THE INSURANCE CERTIFICATE AND ALL WAS AGREED. HOW MUCH WELL 1/2 PRICE £586 PROTECTED NCD AND THE WIFE WITH AN SP30,
( NOT IN THE SCOOBY MAY I ADD )SO IM HAPPY FOR ANOTHER YEAR. BUT WHAT ABOUT NEXT?

Just had a quote posted to me by Admiral, they must have my details on file from last year.

28, Fully comprehensive, Full protected NCD, No accidents, claims, convictions ever! UK MY00 no modifications.

£2056

It will be "even cheaper" if I pay by credit card.

Best so far....Direct Line £722

I've not had my renewal through from Privilege yet but I guess it will be even cheaper

privilege subaru quoted me £1111, but when i went through 0800 number they quoted £870, a major discrepancy for sure, but i thought these guys were doing us a favour.
I will stick with tesco, might even get my shopping there too.

Trev,

I think Privilege underwrite the Tescos policy (correct me if I'm wrong).

I'll probably end up sticking with Privilege because I did their MasterDrive course about 6 years ago which reduces the premium. It cost £50 but has saved me 10% every year since

I always ring around but no one seems to get anywhere near them. It cost me about £650 last year.

It might be worth seeing if Tesco recognize the MasterDrive course. Even if they don't, I recommend taking it or something similar because some of the tricks I learnt helped me avoid a few nasty situations over the years.

JayRaj,

The course is held on the public roads. It's run in association with BSM so you get a qualified instructor and you use your own vehicle.

If I recall it takes about 1-2 hours and you drive on A-roads, B-roads, Dual carriageways and motorways to access your general technique and awareness.

I was told I was too careful, the instructor said "you've got a powerful car so use the power to ease into gaps, you don't have to wait!". I've never looked back

hi mark
nice to see someone from the old country, from morriston myself.
anyway no they did not insist on the tracker
but i do have it on, but they seemed happy enough to quote without it.
it does make sense to have it or something like it on for safety's sake, it cost £700 all in, thats fitting and subsciption for as long as i have the car. when you consider it £450 - £500 for a decent immobiliser and the fact that if you do sell the car it will obviously help, its not really a bad deal, although it seems it when your handing out the readies, but if its your pride and joy why let the b******s get away with it.

hi trev
nice to see your local, my scoob comes out off the garage to go to work in a secure car park with electrified fence, security gaurd and video, then home again into the garage, so i am reluctant to pay for tracker when it never gets left anywhere, the wifes escort does the tesco and school run
