Question Getting a 2nd car insured

I'm considering getting a 2nd car (cheap diesel) to save money on the ridiculous fuel costs of running the Impreza, but am wondering what the best way to get it insured is?

The AA seem to take note of my no claims on the Scoob, and are considerably cheaper than others (Direct Line / Tesco) but someone said that it might be possible to add the diesel to the policy for the Scooby, or combine it in some way, as I am the only driver, and obviously cannot drive both at once.

I have 9 years no claims on the scooby, and am over 30. The policy for the scooby is with LV.

Any information will be appreciated!

Cheers,

Duck.

Dont think you can combine them, but my insurer at the time (Admiral I think) said they would give me full introductory (60%) NCB on my second car. At the end of the policy they sent me proof of no claims - this has now been transferred for several years without issue. Dodgy, but it worked for me

Try calling a Broker like the AA or Swinton, they will have access to schemes that cater for this.

Liverpool and Victoria insured a second car and gave me a discounted premium on it too.

In the end I went for a very cheap low miles 1800 escort petrol that I could park anywhere

Be aware, I looked at Diesels and they seem to all have horrendous miles and a premium on prive over petrol. So don't discount the low mileage petrol cars.

Having the same problem.. 34 full no claims, no convictions, points etc.. And I'm being quoted over £400 for a 6 year old Fiesta..! I thought the days of paying thru the nose for insurance had gone..

I have the scoob and a KA insured with Elephant. I have full NCB's, i am 27 and pay £700 on the scoob and £165 on the KA. I dont have the KA protected for the first year but after that it will be. I did have problems when i initially contacted them as the woman in India had no understanding of insurance, but when i finally got someone that i could commmunicate with it was all good!
