Just got a quote from L&V. The web site says that they will NOT insure import or modified cars so I telephoned them and explained the mods were on the car when I bought it and they were happy to give me a quote in the normal way.

They didn't want to know about my minor speeding indiscretion or any of the mods.

Now..... Bearing in mind that I was completely honest with them and others on this list may not be quite so charitable....... how on earth could they possibly tell that any of the mods were installed before or after I purchased the car?????
