STi8 Insurance
Wonder if someone could help me.
I have just had a quote for an STi8 but I was asked if the model was WRX STi or WRX STi PRODRIVE.
I wasnt too sure how to answer this as I thought that there was only two STi's in version 7.
So my question is, is an STi8 referred to as the PRODRIVE edition?
Your help is much appreciated.

That is what I thought but the version 7 WRX STi Prodrive did not come standard with PPP.(I dont think)
Will need to double check with my broker to be 100%
Comments anyone else?

When speaking to an insurer...
The Impreza WRX STI Type UK (2002) is the boggo standard version. If they mention WRX STI Prodrive, they mean the WRX STI Type UK Prodrive Style version - NOT THE PPP'd VERSION !!!!
The Prodrive Style version of the STI (as we all know) was just cosmetically enhanced, with the bigger front spoiler, rear fin and blue dials etc.. Some insurers differentiated price-wise between the two - I think it was mainly because of the difference in list price.
PPP is a totally different kettle of fish as far as they are concened and will normally take you 30 mins+ to explain to them (so that they will understand) - with most direct insurers, expect a 20% or upwards increase in premium.
Despite what many people think - PPP is a modification, even though it is an optional extra... it affects the performance of the vehicle and therefore is of interest to an insurer. It shouldn't be listed on an insurer's computer system and will normally need to be referred to a senior underwriter for consideration before they can give you a price.
For some bizarre reason insurance quote systems do not have the 2003 STI Type UK on their select lists. Insurers rate the 2003 model as the 2002 model but show 2003 as the year of manufacture. The STI Prodrive that you see on there is not applicable for the 2003 (non-bug eye) model.
Loads of confusion out there, and its not surprising why when you consider the silly naming policy Subaru use.
Hope this helps...
