Depending on the company will depend on how young they will insure
the vehicle at, most companies are twenty years old and on, but there are a handful that do consider younger than that a 'classic'.
Speak to a broker, they will have a wide choice of policies to suit
your needs.

I've not heard of cars less than 10 years old qualifying for classic insurance. Policies will restrict you to a pretty low annual mileage. Not every oldish car qualifies - I know someone who tried to get classic insurance on an Escort Turbo but was told it was on the list of "no, not now, not ever" cars!
The only car i know of that is classed as a classic which is less than 10 years old is my mates mazda mx5 he's had two of them and insured them both as classics (one an m reg , one an n reg) both imports as well , about £300 fully comp

'Most' Classic policies only cover 'British' cars more than 10 years old. If you have a Merc this will probably need to be 20 years old. Jap cars are rarely covered.
Examples
1991 Land Rover 90 SWB 2.5TDi £112.00 p.a. Fully Comp
1970 MGB Roadster 1.8 £92.00 p.a. Fully Comp
Mileage limited to 5K p.a.
Also remember Classic policies do not accrue NCB.
