With your age and ncb bonus I reckon it must be London that bumps up the premium, I live in a village where nothing happens with average population age of 60 lol
Worth seeing if adding your wife or even your father onto the policy will bring it down, I added my other half and she is younger and has no ncb or anything and it brought my insurance down.
As for classic car insurance if you drive your scooby as a second car and occasionally on weekends you could prob come to an agreed mileage say 5-7k miles a year but speak to insurance about it as some are different
and here is by definition classic car pulled it of money supermarket
"For tax purposes, if you drive a car that is more than 20 years old and worth more than £15,000, this is classified as a “classic” by HM Revenue & Customs. However, given the lack of a fixed definition, it's always worth talking to the insurer before signing up to any deal"
thus yours is 1995 +20 = 2015 perfect year I say

If I'm right, classic insurance also means the car needs to be garaged when not in use. I don't know if its changed but that's what I was told a few years back.
Try Chris Knott if you haven't done so already. there normally pretty good but not sure if any would be good for you in London
I pay £305 on my 1995 WRX with C Knott but I'm not in a city but a large town.

Hi,
Please feel free to give us a try for insurance if you like. If you wanted to PM me some contact details I'd be happy to arrange for one of my quotes team to give you a call back.
Regards,
Dan.

As mentioned, but to reiterate, shop around and dont rely on comparison websites. Contact the insurers that are listed here.
Offer low mileage (reduces risk),
Put a Named Driver on (shares risk),
Take a voluntary higher excess (shows you are prepared to share risk with the insurer),
Make sure your security systems are Thatcham Cat 1, plus maybe a tracker, if you don't have one already,
Keep in storage/garage overnight (reduces risk),
Don't drive to work (rush hour driving is high risk),
Don't smoke (again reduces risk),
There is a theme, in case you haven't spotted it - reduce any sort of risk
Good hunting for a good policy and premium and see you on the road

I've spoken to people who've said the same thing that Gary wasn't the cheapest for them and people who he's done great quotes for including myself. IMHO a great guy to deal with over phone and very efficient.

I used to insure with him and the 3 equal payments over 3 months with 0% helped a lot whe I was paying over a grand.
But at £230 fc for my wrx? Even he admitted a while back that he couldn't get close.
So, no, not end of thread, by any means.

Also agree, spoke to Gary for a quote for my P1. He was either having a bad day, or he just wasn't intrested in insuring my mildly modified car. I previously asked him for another quote for another P1 some 8 months earlier totally different spec and he came back with the same price as previously quoted within seconds. So don't think Gary is be all and end all in the subaru insurance department. I went with Sky insurance, fantastic service and very enthusiastic about modified cars.
