Not sure which forum this should go in, but I know you ICE lot are familiar with the old soldering iron and screwdriver.

Just bought a hands free Nokia kit for me MR2, and wondered if anyone has fitted one themselves before? It is the HF Cark-91 kit and has everything included.

The wiring looks straight forward enough, but I want to know whether I can place the control unit and speaker behind the drivers seat rather than in the passenger footwell. (Remember, its an MR2 so there is room on the back wall behind the seat. How do I go on routing the wires as well?

Also, any other tips and advice?

Its a piece of cake ! - you will have to find at least 3 wires to connect to, if not 4... one positive 12v, one negative, one switchable 12v - this doesn't have to be connected, but if it is - it will auto power off your phone if in the cradle when u turn engine off.

Wherever you install the speaker and control unit, you will have to remove some of the trim in the car. The other thing to think about is - is the cable from the cradle long enough to reach behind the drivers seat ??

Where are you located - I can fit without holes drilled in the dash for a fee (as long as you are not far away)

I have fitted all my company ones !

LOL, fitting one myself this weekend!

Spent last weekend working out what everything was \ where everything went. If you want any notes etc let me know, or I may come up and give you a hand (and vice versa!) as I'm not far from you.

(edited to say I've routed plenty of cables, done a lot of ICE installs, and generally know my way around these things. My services will cost you in coffee tho, or beer if it goes well )

Thanks all

Handsfree kit is all fitted in nicely now...except the wiring!!

Everything went smoothly, and all wires etc reached behind the drivers seat via the centre tunnel. Main control unit is now bolted onto the floor behind the seat, mic and aerial are plumbed in, and wires are routed to under the steering wheel.

Just need to figure out which wires to splice into now - for an experienced car sparky it would take about 5 minutes, but they want £30+vat to do the job!!! - Robbing buggers.

(can't put it more plainly! )

wiring is dead easy, I'm up that way on sunday morn so if you want me to stop by and say "that one to that one, use that one, earth that one, and blow a fuse with that one" then just holler.
