you need to dynamat the doors an use spacers to get bigger speakers in, just replacing like for like wont do a lot as they are too thin.

I bought some JBLS front components and rear coaxials to replace the standard sh1te. All run of a pioneer 4 x 50 stereo. Front ones fitted perfectly with Vauxhall Astra plastic spacers where as the rears I had to cut some of the metal door surrounding with a dremel and grinder to make them sit flush. Grinding away some metal openned up the area to allow the larger 5 1/4 speakers to fit in the rear and fyi fronts are 6 1/2. They sound much better than the standard alot crisp and clearer. Terms of dynamite, some guys have choosen to do it whereas others havent including me. Personally I didnt want to do it or want to add any additional weight to the car. The door cards arent hard to remove so can be done later it required.

hope this helps

i wouldnt use dynamite, but dynamat is needed to stop vibration and it weighs next to nothing for the amount needed, if weights an issue take the stereo out.

+1 on this - don't need to do the whole door if you don't want to, just enough to stiffen it up a little.

I have JL Audio 17cm components in mine with a JL Audio amp and an Alpine under seat sub... very happy with this set up. Personally, I wouldn't bother with the rears, save the money for better speakers up front.
