Default Minimal audio and on a budget!

Reserved the Alpine CDE-113BTHAL from Halfords at £89.90
http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/s...k&iozone=PLPz1

Needed a headunit that will be USB compatible with built in handsfree bluetooth phone and have at least 2 pre outs for future proofing. Not too bothered about latest model etc but must be a good quality and I have used Alpine's before and are good. What do you guys think, is there a better alternative at a similar price range?

Also what other bits will I need and where from i.e. ISO connectors or leads??
Am ditching the std double din jap headunit which really does not work very well, is there a different cage I will need to get as now single din?

Also what front door speakers do you recommend, probably wont be using an amp so will probably go for coaxials rather than components. And where to get the spacers from?

These speakers any good?

I just brought the CDE-W235BT, double din one as wanted to keep the standard ish look for 199, its a great bit of kit. the only connectors i needed was (i think)the PC2-44-4 ISO connector, 15mins to fit with running the mic cable

Sod that!! All the clearance ex-display models (especially Alpine) have had all sorts of bits nicked off them and none are complete in any local Halfords. The ex display ones are a waste of time looking at, as staff also confirmed! Also that Alpine was IIRC a 2009 model which is now discontinued.

In the end settled for the Pioneer DEH-4400BT (2012 model) from Halfords @ £130 with a 1 yr return to shop warranty for repairs.

Looks a nice unit the Poineer. I just prefer the double din as the buttons are bigger!!
Your right, but I suppose it depends on the halfords store your using. Got mine from there in a sealed box as only just come out on the market.

Changed the title as Iv decided on setup and ordered most bits now.

-Basically wanted a better sound (current Jap double din does not work at all!)
-Bluetooth for phone
-USB connectivity
-Not too much wiring / amps involved / added weight!
-On a budget as most of my modding budget is spent on performance etc!
__________________________________________________ ___________________________

Pioneer DEH 4400BT - which has Parrot bluetooth built in and USB connectivity. Got for £130 but can be had on the net for approx £110.

__________________________________________________ ___________________________
Today I ordered from a shop called Dynamic Sounds the following:
- Subaru Iso connector
- Open black single din pocket
- Vauxhall Corsa speaker spacers
- Small pack Dynamat
All came to £34 delivered!

__________________________________________________ ___________________________
After several hours research It was either going to be one of the two below:

http://www.talkaudio.co.uk/index.php...-speakers-r852
or
http://www.talkaudio.co.uk/index.php...dspeakers-r791

But due to the JBL's big sound from headunits small power (and at 2 Ohms), I opted for the JBL's. (I went for coaxial 6.5" front speakers, not components as they will be head unit powered)

http://uk.jbl.com/jbl-product-detail-uk/gto6528s.html

Got them direct from JBL online for £39.99 delivered.
__________________________________________________ ____________________________________

If these JBL's can hold their own just being powered off the headunit (which I still doubt) then later in the year I may go for a not too big, active sub. The advantage of it being I can just unplug it and take it out when on track etc.

Was considering this which can be bought for approx £99 and comes with all cables etc.

__________________________________________________ __________________________________

So even if including the active sub the whole lot would cost £283!!!
Opinions?

On my Spec C I had installed some 6.5" Infinity Kappa 62.7i components and they were running of an Alpine headunit. I found the sound to be almost as under powered and feeble as before and from what people told me it seemed as if either they were too power hungry and because they were components? Not too sure but dont want to make the same mistake again.

Yeah those JBL's do look good

me, i wouldnt even bother trying to run components properly from a head unit. but ive heard many sounding just fine from it also. the kappa were never a great component set, the jbl go much lower than those. my advice, re think...

if you have a decent headunit, sound deaden the doors, and get larger speakers (fronts are too shallow and hit the window when down) the sound is fine.
you need components in the front and decent quality ones.

Getting there.....fitted double din to single din cage bits and din pocket. Also fitted the bluetooth mic in the top right of the single din pocket. Got it all fitted and working, even managed to load phonebook onto headunit via bluetooth! But forgot to connect the blue/white antenna power wire from headunit into solid white wire in ISO plug, so no radio!! Will sort it once I fit sub in a couple of weeks. Next job speakers

Sorted the radio, didn't plug the two blue wires together out of the head unit as suspected Got the handsfree phone & bluetooth music working too.

Got this for £10 from Maplins and is absoloutely tiny in size, no more than a few cm's. Should hold several hundred songs on there to stream from USB.

Ok stuck with the GTO 6528S after talking to JBL Technical support guys

And managed to fit them today, though the Corsa spacers I ordered were not the right ones. But a bit of modifying sorted them out. Apllied minimal Dynamat in a small area around speaker.

Just about finished setting them up this evening and they almost sound as if they are powered by an amp rather than just the head unit! Really good sound quality, especially clear and crisp treble. I tried them as 4 Ohm but these are designed as 2 Ohm speakers and they were quite a bit louder running at 2 Ohm, which is how I left it. I think these will easily hold their own with an active sub in the boot
