Question

I've just had my MY01 double Din unit swapped out for a Sony CDX8850. [and a nice sunglasses holder!]

Unfortunately, when I set the Clock/DSP Settings and turn off the ignition, the settings are lost. Does anyone have an Idiot's guide for adjusting this?

Thanks

Sounds like the perm. live an ign. live are the wrong way round.
Swap the red and yellow wires round and that should sort it.

Hullo!

The yellow and red wires, from the car, are the switched and permanent feeds for the stereo. Normally, the red one is a permanent +12V, with a small power-rating, while the yellow is a thicker wire, which is switched on when the key goes to the accessory position.

It's worth confirming that this is correct, for your car, with a multimeter. But, assuming it is, if you connect the red wire (from the stereo) to the red wire (from the car) you should find the settings are kept.

Then you have both radio power wires (perm. live and ign. live) connected to the cars ignition live.
All you have to do is find the cars perm. live and connect the radios yellow wire to it. leave the red where it is.

Talking

Had to strip the red and yellow connectors out of the ISO loom and use a 2 connector choccy block to find out what way keeps the settings.

The only way I could get the stereo to retain the settings was to splice the red / yellow together at both ends and place in a single chunk of choccy block.

Unit keeps the settings and is also not affected by the ignition now.

Many thanks all!

Wink

Putting the Sony unit in has made me realise how bad the OEM unit is....
