Default Hiding a double din screen

Have just installed a rather nice double din unit with screen, in my newage.

However I am very concious of the fact that my old head unit had a removable front and hence wasnt a temptation to any passing opportunists

Just wondering if anyone has any ideas for concealing the double din unit - like a kind of front cover

Cheers
Rich

If you mean something like this........

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/A0301-Security...item2a0a37b72b

It's just an example, I had a dvd unit in my previous car that came with a plastic cover that slotted over the top. It looked cack but did hide the unit. Although you have to question the merit on concealing as it does, if nothing else, draw MORE attention to the fact you have a pukka stereo

Scorpion electric fencer connected to alarm works nicely, the scumbags just open door until interior lights come on bang, these units would put a cow on its backside!

Which leaves you with a very limited choice... can you name many (i only know of a limited range from Kenwoods 2010 offerings).

I'm putting a kenwood or pioneer in soon, both the options i'm considering are fixed front units... i'm just going to cross my fingers and hope the scumbags stay away.

Tony.

Do you know what model numbers... i've looked at the mobile/digital media stations (IVA, iXA and the new INE nav and i can't see any that have removable fronts.

I've not looked at double din audio players, only video/dvd/nav ones tho.

DO NOT put a pioneer system in.... i had major trouble with mine, the sat nav failed when i was on my back from france, it kept freezing and the maps were 6yrs out of date and that was a brand new off the shelf sealed 2009 model. I ended up threatening to take legal action as pioneer nor the dealer would replace the unit. apparently it was a nown issue and everyone was complaining about it yet nothing was being done.

not what you want when you spend £1K

Eventually i got a replacement from the dealer and i upgraded to a kenwood and its 3 times the system the pioneer was and it was less than 100 more!

Cheers, the latest pioneers media players only have front inputs too... having a cable out the front to my iphone just doesn't appeal. Think i'm going for a DDX5024, last years model but such a low price i can't argue. Nav and bluetooth i'll add later.... maybe even give the nav a miss, have autopilot on iphone and ovi maps on my works nokia.

Kenwood are the winners i think

Very nice

I want the smaller screen/non motorised versions... just find the volume **** handy. So either DNX-5260BT for an all in one or DDX-5026 for just a multimedia screen. Last years DDX-5024 i can get new for £350, which seems like a bargain to me.

I would also recomend the jvc range, the avx 730 has rear USB, full 7inch screen, and best of all the face comes off for security, the avx 830 also has Bluetooth, I have a shop in Leicester, most of these units are on display so if anyone is local feel free to pop in and have a play
